I was asked recently if workplace policies work against an honor system. First, they’re not mutually exclusive. In a time of risk management, one backs up the other to protect social order as well as enhance social interactions.
Disrupting social order for personal gain is not synonymous with asserting new ideas that challenge the status quo. In fact, “think outside the box” is the mantra for creativity.
And “continuous improvement” is a method for making positive change happen. Pushing the envelope ensures innovation. Policies and an honor system ensure a common ground.
